This soap is named after the original folklore of the Red Threads, and knowledge of our connection to all the life we live amongst and the raw natural power of the Earth. After a few years of establishing a small bed of Saffron I am so pleased to now be able to harvest their precious red threads each fall to use in the apothecary. Rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and anti-depressant among many other actions, Saffron is not always present in modern apothecaries but has been utilized medicinally for a long time. This bar is made from Saffron Threads infused in small batch Extra Virgin Sicilian Olive Oil, Ginger root decocted in Spring Water, and raw local Honey added at trace. Adding honey to soap in the right way causes it and the bar to caramelize as it hardens, resulting in this deepening of all the ingredients and a sweet, toasted scent. This emollient bar is luxurious, hydrating, deeply soothing, supporting circulation and warmth, and lifting to our spirits. Herbal medicine is meant to be an easeful aspect of our daily lives, and weaving medicine into something we use as often as soap is a foundational way to incorporate herbs seamlessly into our days.

All plants grown at Terracotta. Soap handmade from scratch by the Cold Process Method with Whole Plant Extracts. No artificial ingredients or added fragrance. Always Organic & Wild. Cured for a minimum of 6 weeks.

To care for soap simply have a space & dish where it can rest & fully dry in between uses. Keep out of the stream of running water when not in use. Can be used directly on body or lathered on hands/ in a cloth.

Ingredients (All Organic): Saffron, Ginger, Small Batch Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Small Batch Hemp Seed Oil, Spring Water, Shea Butter, Local Honey, Sodium Hydroxide*

*Sodium Hydroxide, otherwise known as Lye, is an essential ingredient in making hard soap which chemically causes saponification. It completely transforms in the process and no lye remains in the fully cured soap bar.
